Tango Information Number or Tango Info Number or Tango Item Number ('''TIN''') is a 14 digit numeric identifier used by tango.info.
'''TIN''' (Tango Item Number) is a 14-digit numeric identifier used by tango.info and others.

Every Global Trade Item Number [[GTIN]] is a TIN, but some TIN are not GTIN. TINs in the range ''0200 - 0299'' are made up by tango.info. That is the area which is defined by GS1 as ''Restricted distribution (GS1 MO defined)''.
The TIN scheme is designed to be used instead of the [[GTIN]] (Global Trade Item Number) where tango-related items need to be covered. It covers all items that GTIN does, plus tango items that GTIN does not cover due to the GTIN authority having not assigned them numbers.

As of 2007 all TIN that are ''not'' a GTIN start with 0248.
The TIN set is largely a superset of the GTIN set. Specifically, it contains almost all numbers in the GTIN set, and it also contains special TINs. Special TINs are assigned by tango.info and tango.info-authorised parties. Special TINs are in the GTIN range ''0200 - 0299''. Hence the TIN scheme excludes the GTINs in this range, defined by the GTIN standard ''GS1'' as ''Restricted distribution (GS1 MO defined)'', and as of 2007 beleived unassigned as GTINs.

TIN (Tango Item Number) is a 14-digit numeric identifier used by tango.info and others.

The TIN scheme is designed to be used instead of the GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) where tango-related items need to be covered. It covers all items that GTIN does, plus tango items that GTIN does not cover due to the GTIN authority having not assigned them numbers.

The TIN set is largely a superset of the GTIN set. Specifically, it contains almost all numbers in the GTIN set, and it also contains special TINs. Special TINs are assigned by tango.info and tango.info-authorised parties. Special TINs are in the GTIN range 0200 - 0299. Hence the TIN scheme excludes the GTINs in this range, defined by the GTIN standard GS1 as Restricted distribution (GS1 MO defined), and as of 2007 beleived unassigned as GTINs.

As of 2007 all special TINs start with 0248.

tango.info uses TINs in URLs, e.g.
