MediaMonkey - ripping CD album

Recommended process to to rip a CD using Windows MediaMonkey (tested with build 1306 by Chrisjjj 16:59, 28 March 2013 (UTC)):

  1. Find album TIN by one of
  • Read barcode number, and add zeros to left to make 14 digits
  • Search for album title and artist on https://tango.info, verifying result e.g. by comparing track listing
  1. Launch MediaMonkey
  2. Insert album's first CD
  3. Click menu bar Tools, Rip Audio CD...
  4. In Destination: enter e.g. (for TINT-based filing):

<library path>\<TIN>\<disc number>\<Track#>

substituting the italics items e.g. C:\My Music\04025438002088\1\<Track#>

  1. Set Format: to WMA, and Settings to http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/6673/wmasettings.png
  2. Ensure [ ] Level Track Volume i.e. UNcheckmarked
  3. Checkmark [x] Eject CD after ripping
  4. The dialog box should look like this.
  5. To start the rip operation, click OK
  6. Wait for the blue status bar at window bottom to disappear, indicating completion
  7. Enter label values by one of
    1. use solo tagging
    2. when all albums are ripped, use mass tagging
    3. use manual tagging, employing values from the album cover, https://tango.info or another source:
      1. In the pane at left, under Recently Added Tracks, click the entry at the bottom of the list - the main pane will show the CD's tracks
      2. In the main pane, select all tracks, right-click, click Properties
      3. Enter the label values common to all tracks: Album, Album Artist, Disc # - click OK
      4. Select the first track, click menu bar View, Properties
      5. Enter the track-specific label values - Track title, Artist, Genre, Year
      6. Click the right-arrow button (not key) to go to the next track, enter label values, repeat until all tracks are done, and click Close
  8. For each additional disc in the album...
    1. Insert CD
    2. Click menu bar Tools, Rip Audio CD...
    3. In Destination:, adjust the disc number
    4. Repeat from "To start the rip operation, click OK" above
