TINT dot is one representation of a TINT.
Current default is TINT- and TINT/ for folders. TINT\ for folders on Windows.
TINT. was not recommended until now.
e.g.
- 07798108080248-2-8
- 07798108080248.2.8
Characteristics compared to TINT dash
- in url and files names less different chars are used, no "-" here anymore:
- sub-object representation more like in some programming languages
- there is only one dot, the word is better known to non-English natives. Dashes exist several and one can see a wrong dash without noticing it is a wrong one.
- no new line in html documents
Disadvantages
- current usage differs
- one more style, switiching costs
Advantages
- TINT dot may help to stop usage of "-" for tango.info identifiers completely, as e.g. ISO 8601 in the compact form is YYYYMMDD.
