MILONGA GITANA IN COLLABORATION WITH... TANGO ADDICT AND PROFFESSIONAL MUSICIAN KOREY IRELAND

Korey has gone back to the original recordings of many traditional tangos and transcribed them into something WE can play. Tango community orquestra is a wonderful project bringing live music to the people AND the people to creating live music. The way it was done in the old days. Musicians and dancers working together to create the Tango music we hear today! WHAT WILL BE INVOLVED?

Korey will teach our group of musicians 2-4 pieces on his first visit. This will take the form of a Saturday of workshops. He will make regular visits about every 4-6 months teaching the musicians more pieces to add to their repertoire. In between his visits there will be practice sessions, 2 times per month. Where you can practice what has been learnt. The idea is to create live music for dancing to. As the musicians progress there will be opportunities for dancers to come and dance as the musicians practice.

WHERE TO FROM HERE?

If you are a musician and would like to take part in a project like this, please an email with information on what instrument you play and why you would be interested in something like this. We need bandoneons ( or similar ), violins, bass, piano. We can accommodate clarinet, trumpet, flute, guitar, cello, viola, and perhaps other instruments, but we need to make sure we have a good number of the base instruments to go ahead. When we have at least 8 people interested we will go ahead with the project.
