HowTo
- a list of labels might help to find music
- w:CD ripping is needed to bring CD on your PC
- I use w:CDex, w:ExactAudioCopy might be better
- Ripping results in an uncompressed w:WAV file. Assuming you have a 60 minute CD, the size of all of the raw tracks should be 605w:MiB — 1411.2Kbps x 60 minutes = 605MiB.
- w:Audio data compression can be used to save disk space. WAV files do not allow tagging, so conversion also helps to solve this.
- w:Lossless compression
- I use w:FLAC which is free and w:open source software and has support in software players and also some hardware support. Some tracks were compressed to 30% of original size. Data compression flac/wav on average was to 42%.
- Lossy compression, some people use w:MP3, others hate it.
- w:Lossless compression
- Category:Audio editors - choose one if you wish to attach infos to your music files
- once used http://entagged.sourceforge.net now use http://mp3tag.de
- Audio player (software)
- w:Category:Media players, I use w:Winamp, with FLAC library plugin.
- there is also DJ software that let's you use two sound cards, so you can listen to one song while playing another to the audience.
- E.g.: w:Traktor
